Blitz rules to be aware: of are as follows: In general the usual FIDE rules of chess apply. The exceptions are: There is no requirement to record moves. Illegal moves - must be called by the opponent (or arbiter) before the opponent makes their next move - the penalty for an illegal move in these time controls is 1 minute added to the opponent’s clock If there is a second illegal, move, the game is lost BUT if you play on, you lose the right to claim an illegal move ( or claim the game if it is the second illegal move). In this case, the game continues with the illegal move as played.

The Ernie Greenhalgh Blitz Championship

Ernest “Ernie” Greenhalgh was a past president of the club. From Begonia Open site: "He was obviously a very good chess player. He trained as a school teacher and taught schools in the western district and his main interests were maths, chess and the stock market," Ballarat Chess Club publicity officer Chris Segrave said. "His family has bequeathed his trophy to us which was the first trophy in what we call the modern era of our club."
