Format: The Time Handicap Tournament is held over two weeks, and comprises 6 rounds of rapid play chess. The time settings are altered whereby the ratio of time allotted to the players for all moves depends on their relative ratings. The maximum time allowed is 30 minutes per game. If the rating difference is less than 400 then the time is 15m vs 15m, for up to 800 difference 20m vs 10m, and for over that 25m vs 5m. No games are rated.
We have been running the Time Handicap tournament since 2019 and it has proved to be a fun and popular evening of chess.
