The Country Victorian Chess Championships will be held in Castlemaine this weekend (Saturday/Sunday Oct. 6-7). Ballarat Chess Club is a proud supporter of this most enjoyable annual event. Best of luck to everyone entering.

The 41st Ballarat Club Championship is over. This years winner is the number one seed Scott Stewert. Congratulations Scott and many thanks to all of those who competed in a most enjoyable tournament.

The the reserves title went to the number one seed in that competition - Robert Bailey. Well done Rob.

While in the reserves the result still hangs in the balance with James Eldridge and John Frangakis to play the final game of the tournament, James needs to defeat John in order to play off against Robert Bailey.

This years tournament is providing many interesting and unexpected results which makes for an enjoyable competition.

The club extends an invitation to all chess players to participate in the Ballarat Chess Club Championship. It is an ACF rated event and sure to be a keenly fought in both the A and B grades. The tournament is scheduled to start on the 3rd of May, check the newly posted club programme for round dates and other upcoming events at the club.
